Review: Wait 2 Wait Teaser |
April 26, 2017
I’d say my past and people I’ve grown up with, and the pressure of finding out who I really am, the reason why I’m still alive, you know…
It isn’t common for a musician to have their first major project be a debut album. They’ll release a mixtape, test the waters, see what works, see what doesn’t. Chase, an RnB and Hiphop artist is taking that unconventional route. For his first full-feature musical project, he is releasing his debut album titled ‘Wait 2 Wait’. The album title in the artist’s words stands for “the art of patience”, a sign that the project is the result a significant amount of time and work, and for a debut album this is definitely reassuring.
Chase has worked on a few singles in the past; his sound, a mixture of Hiphop and RnB. As we move closer and closer to a genre-free musical era, Chase explains that mixing the two sounds allows him the freedom to express how he feels and that’s commendable considering just how both genres on their own take time to master. “Mixing[the genres] actually makes it easier for me to get my feelings out and actually make people feel and believe in that story..and HipHop and RnB is where I find myself a lot”, Chase explains.
Wait 2 Wait is a 10-track album with the production taken care by Eloi-El and Sean Brizz. It is for Chase an album shaped by his past and the people he’s grown up with. “I’d say my past and people I’ve grown up with, and the pressure of finding out who I really am, the reason why I’m still alive, you know…”, Chase explains the album’s influences.
Chase’s music pours with emotion and is at once nostalgic and relatable. The artist explores the ins and outs of growing up in a vulnerable but powerful way. “Wait to wait is about getting to experience the changes, knowing what’s real and facing it, noticing the closest people in your life and what they actually mean to you[…]”, Chase describes the content of his album.
I can not wait to listen to the album, not only because I simply love the tracklist but also because debut albums are usually an artist’s most genuinely produced works and to experience that is for me art in its purest forms.
‘Wait 2 Wait’ will be available on Kigalicious for streaming on the 30th of April 2017, this Sunday.
