Poem: Roaming, by Ines Makuza & Luther Osier
Maya Mutesi

I’m a lonely boat
In a sea of islands
Never to be explored
Only touched at the shores

Palm trees
And forests
Sandy beaches
And blue water
Never to be unraveled

Because I’m a lonely boat
In a sea of islands
I only visit
But I never stay

I only visit
Never stay
My absence tomorrow
Should not eliminate my presence today

Sunshine is still sweet
When you miss it on a winter’s day
So remember me like the wind around
Loudly touching your body but failing to make a sound
